Staying Sane During Your Move

Congrats! You've done it! You have survived the house hunting process, the negotiations, the closing, and now it is time to make the move into your dream home...and that is where things can get a little tricky. With some much to do, where do you even start? Stay sane this summer with this helpful tips to make your move as easy as possible.

Label the boxes. I cannot tell you how many times this has helped me and you will be thankful you did this when you are looking for your coffee pot on a Saturday morning. Another quick tip, all those screws that go to the couch, put them in a Ziploc bag and secure them to the bottom of the couch so you don’t lose them,

Pack light. It is recommended the maximum your boxes should be is 50 pounds. Be sure to pack the heavier items on the bot
tom, leaving the top for the lighter things. Protect items by stuffing pillow cases, socks, and other loose pieces in the crevasses.

Secure the boxes. Close your boxes securely, making sure the top is flat for easy handling and storage.

Keep things together. Keep things simple on yourself by categorizing all the items together and grouping them in the boxes (i.e. bathroom items go in one box, linens in another, and so forth).

Pull the rest of the family in. If you are like me, it easy to want to everything yourself, but having the rest of the family help with move will not only take some of the stress of you, it will make them feel like team players too.

What are some of your tips and tricks when it comes to moving? Is there some thing you wish you had known before moving?
