Halloween Facts: How Much Do You Know?

Halloween is right around the corner and here are some interesting facts surrounding the holiday you might find interesting:

Black and Orange. These colors which have become the staple for Halloween can be traced back to the Celtic festival Samhain. While the color black represented the “death” of summer, orange symbolized the the autumn harvest.

Costumes. During the Samhain, it was believed ghosts wandered the earth. To protect themselves from being terrorized by evil spirits, people wore disguises so the spirits would leave them alone.

Bats. As the Celts celebrated the Samhain, large bonfires were lit and would attract insects which would draw bats. As folklore grew, the superstitions surrounding bats expanded along with the belief they were the harbingers of death.
