Recently I've relocated to a new city, and although I am still in the same state, I don’t know anyone in my new area. For many who end up moving to a new city or state, meeting new people is sometimes not the easiest thing to do. Sure, you have your co-workers, but sometimes you are looking to expand your network and make new friendships.

There are lots of different ways to meet new people outside of work and in some cases allows you to give back. Here are some fun things to check out the next time you are looking to try something new.
1. Walking Groups. If you enjoy nature and hiking, these groups are great to meeting new people. Plus, it helps you stay in shape and who doesn't want to stay healthy?
2. Church organizations. Churches always have activities or events going on. There are usually all sorts of social events to pull you out of the home.
3. Find a club or group. One of the best places I've found with all sorts of meetups and things to do is on Meetup.com. There are so many options on this site, you’re bound to find something that interests you and if not, well then start your own group.
4. Bird watching. Bird watching, or birding, is a popular past time for many and you just never know what types of species you are going to see along with the interesting conversations you’ll have.
5. Cooking class. Harmons is super fun for this! Offering various cooking classes, Harmons will have you impressing your friends and family with your chef skills!
6. Partake in the Paint Mixer. My friends love this class! Have an enjoyable night out by painting and socializing. These classes are spread out across the various hot-spots in Salt Lake City.
7. Volunteer. Interested in volunteering your time but not sure where? These site is awesome to give a list of various volunteering opportunities in all kinds of things.
8. Get involved in Politics. Regardless of your political party, getting involved can be a lot of fun and will get you out there with like minded people. Take a moment to explore the Utah Democratic Site or the Utah Republican Site to see what volunteering options are best for you.
9. Adult sport leagues. Remember playing sports as a kid? You can do it again by signing up on an adult sport league! There are so many different spots to play that I’m sure you’ll find one you love. Two sports that have emerged in popularity are pickleball and frisbee golf.
10. Groupon. I've added Groupon to the list because they are always offering amazing deals on things to do, you never know what you might find, but they are another great platform to meet new people.
